Then And Now: Alice In Wonderland Nail Art

Hi everyone! When I sat down to do my nails tonight, I actually had no idea what I was going to do, so what you are looking at now wasn't planned at all! I drew the pocket watch first, then the rest just fell into place.  Whilst drawing the pocket watch though, I remembered that I done Alice In Wonderland nails a while ago and I decided to incorporate them into a "Then And Now" series for Spangley Nails.

I love reading these sort of posts on other people blogs because I like to be able to see how far people have come in their nail art journey, so I hope you will enjoy reading mine as much.

There is a picture of the Alice In Wonderland nail art I done 37 weeks ago after the jump.

"Rain Rain Go Away!" Nail Art

Hi everyone, I'm back today with this cute manicure that I think it anything but miserable like the rain! These were super easy to do and I love the effect they give.  Before I get into the description, I am now taking requests for tutorials for my tutorial page, so if there is a manicure of mine you would like to see the steps for, then please leave it in the comments below.  Anyway, moving onto the nail art for today...

Kate Spade New York Inspired Nail Art

Hi eveyone! Thank you all for sticking around! :-)  I've been working hard this week on various things and my nails got neglected - but I'm back now with loads of exciting things planned!  I seen some of my Instagram buddies doing manicures inspired by Kate Spade New York, so I thought I would jump on that bandwagon too!  I have also started adding links to where you can purchase the polishes I have used as I have had a couple of queries on that.  SO, without further ado, here is the Kate Spade New York Nail Art.

Zip Nail Art

Hi everyone! Today, just for fun, I have these cool zip/unzip nails to share with you.  I think these are really quirky and portray an important message for all nail artists - your nails are a blank canvas, but who wants blank when you can have colour.  When you think about it, painting your nails is like unzipping the colour and zipping a new one on.  I encourage everyone to express themselves through nail art. :-)

Hi everyone, back again for another 10 days of MoYou London 31 Day Challenge and I'm kicking it off with Cupcakes! I love doing freehand cupcakes, so was really looking forward to this theme.  There is a stamp of a cupcake on the Pro Collection Plate 04, but I was looking for something a bit different, so here is my take...  I can hear you saying where is the stamping for this design?! Read on to find out!

"24" Nail Art

Hi everyone.  As you know I have been entering the MoYou London Challenge for 10 days now - wowza! I have full intentions to continue with this, but I thought just to mark my third of the way through point and to give my stamping plates a rest, I decided to do some 24 Nail Art.  As some of you may know, I absolutely love 24, the adventures of Jack Bauer and everything else in between.  I was thrilled at the start of this year when it was revealed there would be a new series and this started last week.

MoYou London: 31 Day Challenge - Day 10 Geometric

Hi everyone.  Officially now a third of the way through the MoYou London 31 Day Challenge! This is day 10 - Geometric.  I was up to my old tricks again with today, I had to Google.  After that, I realised that Geometric is shapes of all different colours and sizes, so I came up with this...

MoYou London: 31 Day Challenge - Day 9 Superhero

Hi everyone.  Happy Tuesday! I'm back with yet another MoYou London fuelled post!  This is day 9 and the prompt is Superhero.  When I originally researched this day, my original thought was to free hand some Superhero badges onto my fingers, from Super Man to Batman, then I planned to use the zip stamp from Princess Plate 09 over the top of them to look like the Superhero's do when they change from (for example) Clark Kent to Superman or Peter Parker to Spiderman.  So, I attempted this brilliant plan, and it just didn't flow.  My fingers really didn't look right.  So I removed them and went back to the drawing board.  Maybe I just had to think outside the box for a little while.

I don't know about you, but where I live, there is no Clark Kent's or Bruce Wayne's waiting to rip off their jacket and save people from the bad guys.  But what what I do have is my family and I think they're the real Superhero's! Correct me if I'm wrong, but who'se the first people you turn to when you have a problem?  Your Family.  Who'se the first people you call when you have good or bad news?  Your Family.  And who'se always there, to "save you from the bad guys?" Every scenario I come up with the answer is always my family - they're the real Superhero's here.  They're all super-star's to me, and shine in lots of different ways.  So, this manicure is dedicated to them...

Hi everyone.  Hope you've had a great weekend where-ever you are. I'm back today with the MoYou London 31 Day Challenge and the prompt was Food.  When I first seen this one, I panicked a bit because the only "food" stuffs on the plates I own are a carrot and some lollipops! So I went with the latter option and ended up with this...

MoYou London: 31 Day Challenge - Day 7 Red

Hi everyone.  Oh today was tricky! The theme for MoYou Londons 31 Day Challenge was Red.  The possibilities for this are endless, I suppose.  The night before last I had hundreds of ideas running through my mind; lipstick, ladybirds, strawberries and even blood at one point! I finally settled on "Roses are Red..." as I'm all about simplicity and that poem is definitely that!

MoYou London: 31 Day Challenge - Day 5 Shadows

Hi everyone! Wow, Day 5 of my 31 Day Challenge already! Wont be long before its nearly a third of the way through.  Today's theme was "Shadows." Tricky one depending on the plates you own, I had an initial idea but I thought it was impossible to achieve, so I went looking for more inspiration. A couple of girls on Instagram are few days ahead of me, so when I looked at their entries, they were doing silhouettes of people in various scenarios - great idea.  But not for me.  I looked at my plates and seen a scary looking ghost man on Fairy Tale 01, I thought, that could work, a sort of "shadow man" - great idea! But again, not for me.  I kept coming back to that same initial idea... So here goes nothing...

You may have heard of the musician Cliff Richard?  Well his backing band are called The Shadows, so here is my entry to Day 5 - Shadows.

MoYou London: 31 Day Challenge - Day 4 Fantasy

Hi everyone! I'm back with yet another instalment of my 31 Day MoYou London Challenge!  This was the first day, out of the 4 I have done, that I was actually looking forward to the most because the Fairy Tale Collection of stamping plates are the ones I own the most of.  After having a real good look at what I could do - this time I had heaps and heaps of choice - I came up with something really close to home taken from Fairy Tale Plate 02.

There is a myth in Scotland that an extremely large creature inhabits The Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands & goes by the name of Nessie OR The Loch Ness Monster.  Whether you believe the story to be true or not is up to you - there have been various suggested sightings of Nessie with the most recent being reported in April 2014!  But, since this is a Nail Art blog, let me get on with just that... (I'll have some more information on Nessie at the bottom of the post, don't worry - I believe too!)

MoYou London: 31 Day Challenge - Day 3 Animal Print

Hi everyone! Here I am with Day 3 of the MoYou London Challenge! Eeek! I have to say, it really is a process.  I was right when I said it was a lot of work.  It has become a ritual that whilst I am half way through a mani, my boyfriend and I start looking through my plates to see what my next design will be based on the word prompt.  I have to say I am dreading the next few days, but we will see what the plates do for me when the time comes.

Without further ado, I present to you Day 3 - Animal Print, or in other words, the print of an Animal?

MoYou London: 31 Day Challenge - Day 2 Nature

Hi everyone.  Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.  Let me start off by saying how much day 2 was almost the death of me.  I had thought about what I wanted to do on my nails to portray "Nature," and one thing I knew I didn't want to do was fall into the birds & bees trap.  Don't get me wrong, there is some cracking entries with animals and flowers on, I just fancied something a little different.  So I wrote an idea down last night and attempted said idea tonight: FAIL.  I scrapped the lot and tried again: FAIL.  We're now onto attempt 3... I'm not 110% happy with my execution BUT I am giving myself 10 outta 10 for sticking with it & not giving up!

This is based on the famous book "The Very Hungry Caterpiller" by Eric Carle, and to represet "Nature" this is the caterpiller transforming into a butterfly.

MoYou London: 31 Day Challenge - Day 1 Art

Hi everyone!  Last month, a couple of my Instagram buddies completed a 31 Day Challenge.  The idea of these challenges are to use a word as a prompt to base Nail Art on for each day of the month and there are 31 in total.  It is a lot of work as you need to post EVERY day for 31 days and plan ahead.  For the last few days, I had been toying with the idea of doing one for May... But then... My favourite stamping company MoYou London announced they were posting their very own 31 day challenge for May!  How could I possibly refuse to participating in this?? ITS LIKE THEY READ MY MIND!!

So I now present to you The MoYou London 31 Day Challenge in all its glory.  There is no rules, anything goes! Oh! Apart from every design has to include stamping on your nails by a MoYou Plate.

Mean Girls Nail Art That Is "Soo Fetch!"

Hi everyone, Wednesday - the 30th of April marked the 10 year anniversary of the movie Mean Girls.  This happens to be one of my favourite films :-) I actually haven't met one person who cant rhyme off quotes from the film.  Quite frankly, if you cant - WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS?!  I decided to do these nails to mark the occasion.
