Then And Now: Great Gatsby Nail Art

Hi all, I'm sure you don't need me to remind you of our Wednesday theme by now but its time for... Then And Now! I first done this weeks design 56 weeks ago, so just over a year!  I seen a lot of people on my Instagram feed doing Bestie Twin Nails - and I felt left out! So I put out a disclaimer and my fabulous pal Tracy took me up on my advertisement.

For those who don't know what Bestie Twin Nails are, its when 2 nail artists decide on a theme or design for some nail art and go and create it! It can be quite fun to see how one persons interpretation of a design differentiates from another.

Tracy and I picked a manicure that was inspired by The Great Gatsby and as usual, our original manicure is after the jump.

Polishes Used:
Barry M - White (Pictured)
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure - Gilty Pleasure
nails inc (Kate Spade) - New York Noir
Seche Vite
I started off with painting all of my nails with White, quickly followed by a coat of Seche Vite.

I recently discovered an online store called She Sells Seashells UK, who sells nail vinyl's for as little as £1.  I've purchased 4 from her so far and plan on buying more soon.  Look out for a full review of that store coming on my site in the next week.  Anyway, the reason I mentioned this is because I specifically bought the chevron vinyl's to do this weeks Then And Now.  I think this is where I went wrong the first time - I free handed the design and all the nails are different shapes and wonky lengths, - you'll see for yourself, Tracy's was much better!

Anyway, I waited 15 minutes for my Seche Vite to dry and added a chevron vinyl to each nail and filled it in with Gilty Pleasure.  I pulled the vinyl's off straight away and added another coat of Seche Vite.  Finally, I waited another 15 minutes and placed another vinyl to the gold area and a added a coat of New York Noir to that, I pulled the vinyl's off straight away and covered the entire nail with a coat of Seche Vite.

Now for the "Then" picture - I think you'll agree Tracy's is much better! Please be sure to check her out on Instagram @notorious_nails_, Facebook Notorious Nails and her website - here, show her some love! :-)

The particular blunder of my manicure for me is the difference in shapes between my index finger and my ring finger! #NailFail
